Live and Proud Sydney: Sydney World Pride Opening Concert
Join us at The Domain for the official Opening Concert of WorldPride 2023 as we welcome the world to Sydney. Hosted by Casey Donovan and Courtney Act, the best of Australia’s singers and musicians will get the WorldPride party started! The concert starts at 7pm, but your ticket gets you entry to The Domain from 3pm where you can enjoy the food and beverage offering on-site and pre-show entertainment. When booking, choose between the general admission area where you can BYO picnic rug or, if you like to be closer to the action, consider reserved seating. This is the global family reunion we’ve been waiting for.
Mardi Gras Parade
Mardis Gras Parade Saturday Feb 25 6PM- 11PM: We’re coming home! Our world-renowned Parade returns to Oxford Street in celebration of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras’ 45th anniversary. This dazzling display of LGBTQIA+ excellence showcases the beauty and strength in pride and self-expression as we continue the fight for equality.
As the biggest event of the Sydney WorldPride festival, all eyes will be on our 12,500 marchers as 200+ floats adorn Oxford Street for the first time since 2020. Expect all your Parade favourites, from the famous rumble of the Dykes on Bikes to the beloved 78ers, and the many wonders of our LGBTQIA+ communities.
Watch this year’s theme Gather, Dream, Amplify come to life – whether from the free viewing areas on the street or our premium viewing spaces – as bigger floats, lighting and firework shows elevate the spectacle that is Parade along the entire revamped route from Hyde Park to Moore Park.
Pride Villages
Oxford Street is home to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, and as part of World Pride celebrations, areas of this beloved LGBTQIA+ district will be the festival hub. The area will be home to daily stalls, performances, dining and a place to connect with friends and family in between World Pride events. Crown Street will be home to a stage with nightly shows and special extended entertainment on weekends. To mark the final weekend of World Pride (4-5 March), Oxford Street will be closed for a once-in-a-lifetime street party, that’s in addition to the Mardi Gras Parade on 25 February!
Domain Dance Party: 26 February
Domain Dance Party: 26 February: Domain Dance Party will be the biggest LGBTQIA+ circuit event Australia has ever seen.
It’s time to dance…with 10,000 of your closest friends. Across 7 hours of party, Domain Dance Party will be the biggest LGBTQIA+ circuit event Australia has ever seen.
In the open-air surrounds of The Domain, the best local and international DJs will descend on the city. As the balmy summer sun sets on the Sydney skyline, party boys, queer lovelies and circuit house machines will dance themselves into the second week of WorldPride. From dancers onstage, to surprise acts around you, this will be a gay ol’ feast for the eyes and ears.
WorldPride Arts
WorldPride Arts will feature over 60 individual experiences from theater to contemporary art, dance, choirs, cabaret and literature. Curated by the Sydney WorldPride Creative Directors Ben Graetz and Daniel Clarke, our Festival Producer, Lisa Freshwater and team of Curatorial Associates. Made for locals and visitors alike, WorldPride Arts will be the perfect way to experience Sydney culture.
First Nations Gathering Space: 23 February – 28 February
First Nations Gathering Space: 23 February – 28 February : Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creativity is renowned, from striking visual art born in Australia’s Top End, to the cutting-edge works of Short Black Opera, to the outrageously camp Black Divaz.
Located in the inner-city suburbs of Eveleigh and Redfern, the stunningly converted train sheds of Carriageworks will come alive with six days of First Nations creativity. From free exhibits, to theatre, dining and drag, the First Nations Gathering Space will be the place where everyone is welcome to experience the rainbow heart of the oldest surviving culture on the planet.
Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference: 1 March – 3 Mar
Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference: 1 March – 3 Mar: The conference will be an immersive three-day program that combines inspiring keynotes, panels and round tables, with interactive workshops, innovative pitching and dedicated networking events. LGBTQIA+ community members from across the globe will come together to tackle the big issues facing LGBTQIA+ communities and develop the skills and networks to effect positive change.Together, we’ll gather to embark on a journey, with over 60 local and international speakers, including First Nations leaders and elders, LGBTQIA+ activists and campaigners, policy and lawmakers, elected officials, researchers and academics, to dream and amplify our collective vision for equality and justice.
Mardi Gras Kaftana Pool Party: 1 March
Mardi Gras Kaftana Pool Party: 1 March: Throw on your best frock and feast your eyes on the campest event of the Festival, Kaftana Pool Party! The glistening ivy Pool becomes the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of pure fabulousness – let your inner diva shine for one of Mardi Gras most-loved events.
Sip on cocktails as drag stars and performers mingle amongst the cabanas, while our musicians soundtrack this one-of-a-kind sunset soiree. You’ll be tickled pink as the DJs take you on a disco journey through time.
Mardi Gras Sissy Ball
Mardi Gras Sissy Ball: 4 March: Witness the regal, the ravishing and the revolutionary battle it out at Sissy Ball. Who will take their 10s and who will get the chop? All will be unveiled as legendary houses from across the globe compete in Australia’s biggest vogue ball.
Queer expression steals the spotlight as passion, culture and finesse collide on the runway, echoing through Sydney Town Hall once more with esteemed Godmother to the original House of Slè, Kilia Pahulu, continuing her reign as Curator.
